Naxos Island, steeped in myth and history, offers a captivating backdrop for our conference. According to ancient lore, it is the birthplace of Zeus, the king of the Greek gods, imbuing the island with a unique cultural and historical significance that the ancient Greeks themselves saw as timeless. Naxos was central to the early Cycladic civilization, whose artistic legacy, Cycladic art, dates back over 5,000 years, embodying the simplicity and purity of form that would influence Western art for millennia. This heritage, combined with its rich archaeological sites and traditional Cycladic charm, provides an inspiring atmosphere for intellectual exchange and reflection. Beyond its history, Naxos is famed for its stunning beaches with crystal-clear waters and golden sands, where attendees can unwind and connect with nature. The island’s blend of history, mythology, and natural beauty promises a memorable and enriching experience for all participants.
The conference will take place at the Naxos resort and rooms are reserved for all participants.

Plane from Athens
Naxos has a small domestic airport with multiple flights from Athens. We suggest an early reservation since the airplanes are small. There are taxis in the airport but there is no bus in the terminal.
The closest bus stop from Naxos airport is "Naxos Camping," situated about 600 meters (approximately a 7-10 minute walk) from the airport terminal.
Access from other islands
There are nearby islands with international aiports like Paros(limited), Santorini and Mykonos. Not a recommended root unless visiting those islands.
Mykonos to Naxos: trip times ranging from 35 minutes to 1 hour and 45 minutes, depending on the vessel. Operators such as SeaJets, Blue Star Ferries, and Fast Ferries service this route.
Santorini to Naxos: trip duration varies between 1.5 to 3 hours, depending on the ferry type. Operators include Blue Star Ferries, SeaJets, and Golden Star Ferries.
Paros to Naxos: The journey typically takes between 25 minutes and 1 hour, depending on the ferry type. Operators include Blue Star Ferries, Seajets, and Minoan Lines.
Boat from Athens
Piraeus Port: Located approximately 15 km south of central Athens, there is a local express bus directly from the Athens airport to the Pireus port. Piraeus offers both standard and high-speed ferries to Naxos. Standard ferries take about 5 to 6 hours, while high-speed options can reduce the journey to approximately 3.5 hours. Companies such as Blue Star Ferries and SeaJets provide daily services.
Rafina Port: Situated about 30 km east of Athens city center, Rafina is closer to Athens International Airport. KTEL Attikis offer bus rides from the airport to Rafina port. Ferries from Rafina to Naxos typically take between 3 to 5.5 hours, depending on the vessel. Companies like SeaJets and Golden Star Ferries operate on this route.
Our hotel is about 0.87 miles from the Naxos port, you can also find taxis and a bus at the port.
While taxis are required to have POS machines, it's advisable to confirm with the driver if you plan to pay by card. Ensure that the taxi meter has started at the beginning of your ride. Uber does not operate in Greece but they offer taxi rides(limited) in Athens.
Bus tickets from the airport need to be bought before onboarding.
If you prefer a private transfer, several services offer pre-booked rides from the airport to the ports, providing a fixed rate and ensuring a driver is waiting upon your arrival.
*Note bus tickets in Naxos need to be bought before boarding in the port. If you take the bus from the airport the bus driver will ask you to purchase a ticket upon arrival.
*It's advisable to book tickets in advance, especially during peak tourist seasons, to secure your preferred mode of transportation.
