Weather: the summers in Greece are wonderful hot and sunny but in the beginning of June we are still off season and hence the weather can be unpredictable. One signature feature of Aegean summer is the Meltemi — a seasonal northerly wind that brings refreshing air, but can make the sea a bit choppy, especially in the afternoons. Some general recommendations are the following:
Bring sunscreen (apply multiple times in a sunny day), hats and sunglasses. If the sky is clear, the UV index will be high even if the wind brings down the temperature.
Bring something to wear for the evenings as it can get chilly even in the warm summer days.
Stay hydrated especially if we have hot days! Note that tab water is usually not drinkable in Naxos, please ask!
Bring your swimsuit!
Safety: we hope that we will have lovely summer days ideal for swimming in the sea but please take caution when you swim, lifeguards are not always available nor is the condition of the sea always indicated by flags.
Do not bring valuables at the beach. Naxos island is a safe family friendly destination but unattended objects at the beach are always at risk.
Please swim with couple of friends to ensure everyone''s safety.
If you are not a comfortable/experienced swimmer please avoid swimming in a windy day, deep waters or if no lifeguard is present. The water gets deep pretty quickly and there can be undercurrents.
Please don't dive head first as there can be stones underwater especially in Plaka beach (plaka means stone!) which we plan to visit on Thursday. Every year there are multiple injuries of this kind.
Please don't swim intoxicated.
Water in Naxos is not always drinkable so please ask before using any tab.
Other Info:
Most vendors take credit card (especially Visa and Mastercard) but not all, it's good idea to have some cash in euros. Also multiple vendors do not take American Express.
Make sure you pre-arrange the price with taxis if there is no meter.

Note that private doctors are not particularly expensive in Greece, so if you are having a non-emergency medical issue we suggest to ask the hotel reception to recommend a local specialty doctor's office and you can ask the cost. This will decrease your wait time significantly.
